Real-time tracking — GPS, BLE, and RFID

On election day, there is no substitute for knowing where everything is right now. NxtAssets combines three tracking technologies into one live picture — so a warehouse manager, an election director, and a field tech are all looking at the same map.

Three technologies, one picture

Different parts of the election cycle need different kinds of visibility. NxtAssets doesn't force one answer on every problem — it uses the right tool at each stage.

GPS — wide-area, in motion

Cellular GPS units on delivery vehicles and high-value cases broadcast live location. Useful for knowing a truck full of equipment is on the planned route, or noticing that a delivery is delayed before the polling place calls to ask.

BLE — indoor, at rest

Bluetooth Low Energy beacons attach to individual assets or containers. A mesh of BLE beacons and WiFi access points in the warehouse pinpoints equipment to the shelf. Out in the field, a tablet can sense when a specific asset has entered a specific room or zone.

RFID — bulk and checkpoint

RFID tags (passive or active) get scanned at loading docks, polling-place entry points, and return stations. Useful for fast bulk scans — a pallet of equipment passing a reader in seconds — and for enforcing checkpoint-based workflow transitions.

What staff actually see

The NxtAssets dashboard opens to a live map. Trucks move along their delivery routes as icons. Each tracked asset shows its last known position. On election morning, a warehouse manager watches outgoing deliveries; at the same time, an election director monitors which polling places have received equipment and which are still waiting. When a site is running behind, it's flagged immediately — so the response is a phone call, not a search.

Geo-fences and alerts

Draw a virtual boundary around a polling place, a warehouse, or a planned delivery corridor. If a tracker crosses the wrong line — a truck leaves its route, a ballot container exits secure storage outside working hours — NxtAssets fires an alert to designated personnel in real time. Proactive monitoring, not post-hoc forensics.

Route planning and optimization

NxtAssets can help plan delivery routes across dozens or hundreds of polling locations, balancing drive time and capacity. Routes can adjust on the fly in response to live traffic data. When a truck has to re-route, the updated plan flows into the live map everyone is watching.

Location history

Every scan and every tracker ping is logged with timestamp and location. The full movement history of any asset is reconstructible on demand — "delivered to Site A at 6:45am by Truck 3, moved to Room 101 at 7:00am, picked up at 8:15pm, returned to Warehouse at 9:00pm." This complements the chain-of-custody record by adding the where dimension automatically.
